“This flower does not come from the world.”

Buddhist scriptures refer to the Youtan poluo as a sacred plant. The name of this unique blossom comes from Sanskrit and means an “auspicious flower from heaven. It has no chlorophyll and no roots and only grows once every three thousand years.

Fahua Wenju Buddhist scripture had mentioned it as heralding “the advent of the King of the Golden Wheel. He is an excellent king who will rule the globe with fairness rather than violence. No matter what religion someone follows—Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, etc. Anyone who shows compassion to others might have a chance to encounter the Holy King Who Turns the Wheel.

Youtan poluo flowers’ mission

“Huilin Phonetics and Interpretation” has stated that this heavenly flower symbolizes rare preciousness and is a miracle:
“The Youtan poluo flower is a celestial flower that does not exist in the mundane world. It results from propitious and supernatural phenomena. This flower will appear if a Tathagata or the King of the Golden Wheel appears in the human world due to his great virtue and blessings.”

Buddha Sakyamuni mentioned the Youtan poluo and the Wheel Turning King to his disciples. So, they asked the Buddha if they could still be normal people and do their practice while still living in a world of people. The Buddha said that: “You’ll have to wait until the Holy King of the Wheel Turning appears in the world… At that time, you must not pass up an eternal opportunity.”

After the disciples heard the Buddha’s words, female disciple Lianhuase respectfully asked Him: “Master, in the future, when the Holy King of Falun appears in the world, what do people do if they don’t know about it?”
The Buddha replied: “At that time, a kind of flower known as Youtan poluo would blossom all over the globe to remind people of the arrival of the Holy King of Falun to the world to preach his teachings and save sentient beings in the world.”

The Buddha continued explaining: “This flower is not of this world. It is a manifestation of the merits of the Holy Wheel Turning King. This manifestation represents the rare chance to meet a Buddha or hear a Buddha’s teaching.”

The Buddha also advised his disciples to accumulate merits and do good things. He said that he would protect them until the day they met the Holy Wheel Turning King.

The History of the Udumbara Flower

According to the teachings of Buddha Shakyamuni, its appearance heralds the arrival of the King of the Golden Wheel appears, rectifying the Dharma in the world. This King will accept anyone of any religious affiliation, offering salvation to all through compassion.

Yet once it blossoms, its fragrance fills the entire area. You need to have a keen eye to spot these delicate blooms.

This event made news worldwide and was especially significant. According to the chronicles in Buddhist teachings, this year has been 3024 lunar years since Buddhism first emerged.

South Korea

In 2005, at a thousand-year-old Sumi Zen Temple in Gyeongju City, Korea, Udumbara blossoms were found. The temple’s Zen Master Kim said he had no idea what they were when he initially discovered them. He tried to wipe them off the surface they were first on, but it didn’t work. When he looked at them more closely, he saw that they were plants with stems, roots, and, of course, flowers.

On June 8, 2007, 22 small Udumbara flowers were found clustered together on a nameplate in a garden located on the roof next to the director’s office in Seoul. These delicate blossoms only measure 0.2 inches in diameter. On the same day, about 12 Udumbara bloomed on a window in a university in Noryangjin-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, and 48 Udumbara were found west of Kwangju City, Korea.

Sydney, Australia

In 2007, a Falun Gong practitioner in Sidney named Ms. Ye found three flowers similar to Udumbara while drying her clothes. After taking pictures of the flowers and comparing them to those of Udumbara, she decided they were indeed these legendary that only bloom once every three thousand years.

Vietnam

In 2012, Dinh Go and his wife Bui Thi Tu of Diem Dien Hamlet, An Ninh Tay Commune, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province, found what they think are the Udumbara on the aluminum frame and iron bars of a window on their house on June 3.

They found a total of 35 white “flowers” in groups of between 5 and 20. The “flowers” have attracted many visitors to the house of the elder couple over the past few days, including some monks who have confirmed that it was the rare “Buddhist flower.” Many locals believe that flowers bring good luck.

China

Miao Wei _ a Chinese nun from Lushan mountain discovered the Youtan poluo in 2010. At first, she thought they were lacewing eggs, but she soon realized they were something entirely different. The following day, they had blossomed into tiny white flowers with a pleasant fragrance.

Mr. Ding, a farmer from China’s northeastern Liaoning Province, was first to see the Udumbara in 2007. They were growing on metal pipes in his garden when a cluster of 38 flowers appeared.

China’s Atheist Regime

When China began reporting sightings of this mysterious flower in 2010, it sent shockwaves throughout the country as people began to wonder if this could mean that there indeed was a spiritual ruler arriving on Earth as predicted by Buddhist teachings.

However, shortly after these reports started circulating through Chinese Internet networks, China’s government officials removed all articles about the Youtan poluo from state-run media outlets without any explanation. Instead of acknowledging what many believed to be a spiritual sign from heaven above, China’s authorities claimed that these mysterious flowers were nothing more than lacewings.

Even though lacewing eggs look like the same flower, lacewing eggs quickly wither and die after hatching, while Youtan poluo are fragrant and last for a long time. This makes it hard for people to believe that this explanation is true.

So, is the Udumbara flower natural?

The larvae of lacewings are called aphid lions. When laying eggs, the female oozes sticky glue and lifts up its belly to form a slender stalk. White eggs laid on the thin stalks can do little to stop the infantile larvae from eating each other after they hatch. The alleged Udumbara flowers are of a size similar to lacewing eggs and also sit on a slender stalk.

Some people have mistaken eggs of an insect called the green lacewing to be Udumbara because of their similar appearance. However, the difference between the two is apparent and straightforward.

The genuine proof of the existence of the Udumbara

According to Epoch Times Staff, Mr. Li, a Malacca, Malaysia resident, has seen the flower and the egg firsthand:

On June 25, 2009, he found over 20 small white flowers on pomelo leaves in St. Paul’s Hill, Malacca, which looked like Udumbara. He brought them to a friend’s place to view under a microscope, where it was clear that they were Udumbara based on the petals and stamens visible in pictures taken.

A week later, Mr. Li returned to the same location and found small white grains similar to what he had seen last time. Still, upon inspection with a microscope, there were no petals or stamens visible – only equally sized elliptical grains like lacewing eggs.

Over time, Mr. Li observed that while the Udumbara flowers retained their pure white color, the lacewing eggs gradually turned black, but their elliptical shape did not change. This is a fantastic example of the life cycle of the Udumbara!

The discovery serves as proof that what people believe to be the Youtan poluo flowers are not lacewing eggs. The difference between the two is obvious and simple. It’s a well-known scientific fact that the insect eggs deteriorate and wither once the larvae hatch, but these mystical flowers do not decay for long periods of time; instead, they grow and bloom, eventually spreading their unique fragrance around, and are long-lasting—some Udumbara even bloom for up to a year.
